Anthony Giacoppo has continued the run of wins for the Genesys wealth advisors Cycling Team by winning stage 3 of the Tour of Borneo.

Anthony follows on from his 2 stage wins in the recent tour of Taiwan and the Western Australian Time Trial Championships, where he set a new course record.

Anthony Giacoppo of Genesys Wealth Advisers has continued his winning ways for 2012 by taking out the State Time Trial Championships for Western Australia.
In a course record of 53.03 he bested the previous record held by former World Omnium Champion Michael Frieberg.
Anthony started last just before midday and posted the quickest time by some 50 seconds over Sam Davis from Genesys Wealth Advisers. Anthony was very pleased with his ride as he kept getting quicker throughout the race. “The middle section of the course is hilly and so I had to make sure I didn’t go too hard and blow through the hills. Once I got through that section I gave it all on the way home. I actually posted my quickest split on my last split. After I had finished I realized I had the quickest splits throughout all the time checks.”
Anthony will depart Perth on Wednesday for the upcoming Tour of Mersey Valley which kicks off the the NRS series for 2012. He then heads off to the Tour of Borneo.

She is without doubt one of the stars coming out of Australia at the moment and should be able to forge a successful career on the track and road on the years to come. Melissa is also a very pleasant person and has won may fans off the bike too. In time I believe she has the physical and mental qualities to be one of the worlds leading female cyclists”

Melissa will now head to Europe and race some of the road events before focusing her efforts on the track leading into the London Olympics. She will be looking to cement her place in the women’s team pursuit.

Cameron Meyer and Leigh Howard have finished off the World Madison Championships with a bronze medal. In front of a home crowd they were heavily marked by all the other teams and often were looked upon to do the lion’s share of the work.

However as the race unfolded the Australian pairing kept attacking the field at every opportunity and eventually took a lap with a few other leading teams. This put them into a position in which they could narrow their focus down to half a dozen other major contenders.

Eventually the Meyer, Howard pairing crossed the line in 3rd place to secure the bronze medal. They have previously been the gold medal winners on the last two occasions and were looking to make I three in a row. This will quite possibly be the last time the boys will ride together as they both look to focus on their road careers.

Cameron Meyer has won the World Championships Men’s Points Race for the 3rd time in his career!

In dramatic fashion he jumped away with approx 18 laps to go and only just made contact with the bunch to officially take his lap with less than 2 laps to go!

He then had to make sure he won the final sprint from his lap taking companion, Aaron Gate of New Zealand, to ensure his Gold Medal point tally.

He now will prepare for the Men’s Madison tomorrow night where he will join up with his long standing partner Leigh Howard to defend their Gold medal haul from the last 2 year’s world Championships.

Luke Durbridge has continued his dream start to his professional career by winning the overall of Circuit Cycliste Sarthe- Pays de la Loire.

In a show of defiance Luke battled through knee pain and held onto his leaders jersey that he gained in the individual time trial on stage 2b.

With only Pieter Weening and Daniel Teklehaianot left to assist him they valiantly held on to the leaders jersey to claim Luke’s first overall stage race victory. His winning margin was 8 seconds from Manuel Boaro of Saxo Bank and Nelson Oliveira of Radioshack-Nissan.

Luke was understandably very complimentary about his two team mates “ I wish to thank my team even though there was only 2 of them left. They rode like 6 men! I would like to thank all the staff at GreenEdge for having the confidence in me to ride for the overall in only my second race as a professional”

Luke will now take it easy for a few days before preparing for the Tour of California as his next major target.

Luke Durbridge has taken his first win as a fully fledged professional cyclist with the Green Edge Professional cycling Team.

He posted the fastest time in the individual time trial on stage 2b of the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe- Pays de la Loire. This follows a very impressive debut last week in the 3 days of De Panne where he finished 7th overall.

He now leads the general classification heading into stage 3. The race will conclude on Friday.
