Cameron Meyer wins 2nd stage of the Tour de Suisse

Cameron Meyer has won the 2nd stage of the Tour de Suisse after being in the day long break and surviving a number of heart wrenching moments where he looked like losing contact with the front of the bike race.

Cameron the break of 5 shortly into the stage and they proceeded to build a handy lead which topped out at over 5 mins. The break worked well to maintain their lead even though the peloton were starting to mount a concerted chase.

Towards the end Cameron was dropped from the leading duo on two separate occasions but each time he made it back to the front of the race, even after having to chase for 10km after the final climb of the day.

In the finish he outsprinted his remaining breakaway companions to comfortably win the sprint.

“This is a significant win for me,” said Meyer. “The Giro was a big personal goal for the first half of the season. It was great to win the team time trial with the guys, but things went downhill for me personally from there. I got sick. I crashed. Eventually, I pulled out. I really wanted to bounce back and come back strong in the second part of the season. This is a great way to start that.”
